Confirmed Losses and Ongoing Search

As of now, four fatalities have been confirmed, including two men and a woman—one man was 35 years old while the woman was 55. A second woman, who had been revived and transported to the hospital, later succumbed to her injuries. It remains unclear if any German nationals were among the victims. Search efforts for the missing person continued into the late evening but returned without success, involving maritime rescue, a helicopter, as well as personnel from the fire department, emergency services, and the police.

Warnings Ignored

Reports indicate that some individuals managed to rescue themselves from the water. The state broadcaster RTVE reminded viewers that authorities had issued warnings about dangerous waves just the day before. While these natural pools are a hidden gem for vacationers, they can quickly turn into perilous traps during rough seas, as powerful waves drag visitors out to open water, and strong currents often make returning nearly impossible. Just weeks earlier, on November 8th, Tenerife had witnessed a similar incident, with numerous people pulled into the sea, resulting in three fatalities and 15 injuries. This latest occurrence has once again shaken the island with its tragic consequences.
