A devastating tragedy has struck the west coast of Tenerife, one of the Canary Islands. Near Los Gigantes, a powerful wave swept away several individuals, resulting in the loss of four lives, while one person remains unaccounted for. Initially, authorities confirmed three fatalities, but the situation has since escalated.

The Incident

It was shortly after 4 PM when disaster struck at one of the popular natural pools in Los Gigantes, located in the municipality of Santiago del Teide. Many visitors were enjoying the scenic views, both on the rocks and in the water, when an immense wave suddenly crashed over them, pulling them into the depths below.

Rescue Efforts

Emergency services reported that several individuals were forcibly taken by the surf. Reports indicate that among those affected were international tourists. A rescue helicopter managed to retrieve one individual alive, while another was sadly found deceased. Official reports have confirmed a total of four fatalities.
