Government filings say scaffolding now covering the front portico was used when Mr. Trump’s name was removed and that it remains while officials assess reported panel damage. Earlier language in filings suggested an evaluation of remediation after the name’s removal, prompting concern from Beatty’s team.

The Kennedy Center board approved an Aug. 13 resolution to reapply Trump’s name and create a “President Donald J. Trump Plaza,” with specific inscription plans and a potential extra line if a fund hits $100 million. Beatty’s lawyers seek emergency relief and an expedited schedule, warning added inscriptions might cause "further damage." The government says it will delay action until at least Sept. 8 while litigation continues.
