A tragic incident has shocked the scenic west coast of Tenerife, one of the Canary Islands. Near Los Gigantes, a powerful wave swept four individuals into the ocean, claiming their lives, while one more person remains unaccounted for.

The calamity unfolded shortly after 4 PM at one of the well-known natural pools in Los Gigantes, located in the municipality of Santiago del Teide. Numerous visitors were enjoying the area, both on the rocks and in the water when suddenly, a gigantic wave surged towards them, pulling many into the depths.

According to emergency services on the Canary Islands, several individuals were carried away by the currents. Among those affected were reportedly foreign tourists, highlighting the incident's international implications. A rescue helicopter was able to retrieve one individual alive and sadly recovered another lifeless from the water.

Tragic Toll Increases

Initially, local authorities reported two men and one woman had died; the ages included a 35-year-old man and a 55-year-old woman. Subsequently, a second woman was confirmed deceased after being airlifted to a hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. At this point, it is unclear whether any German nationals are among the victims.
