Andrew keeps a low profile

The former Duke of York quietly attended the Sandringham Horse Driving Trials on June 30, staying away from the main area while relatives competed. Onlookers said he "sneaked in and sneaked out"; photos showed a fading bruise on his right cheek that outlets reported was not considered a cause for concern and might be linked to medication such as blood thinners.

Ongoing fallout

King Charles stripped Andrew of royal titles in October 2025 after renewed scrutiny following the release of thousands of pages by U.S. authorities. Andrew had lost military roles in 2022 amid a legal fight with Virginia Giuffre, who died by suicide in April 2025; he settled that case out of court and denies wrongdoing. He was arrested on Feb. 19 on suspicion of misconduct in public office over alleged information-sharing with Epstein while serving as an envoy. After the arrest the King said: "I have learned with the deepest concern the news about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and suspicion of misconduct in public office… Let me state clearly: The law must take its course." Former press secretary Ailsa Anderson warned that "reverence people once had for the royal family is disappearing," and biographer Andrew Lownie said, "William wants it all cleaned out before he gets [on the throne]... He wants it dealt with now."
