Smulders and Killam built the property from the ground up on a mountain‑framed lake in British Columbia, a spot they hunted for years. The actress, who grew up near Vancouver, told Architectural Digest in a May 13 tour that the site "just felt like it was right."

Designed by a friend

She tapped family friend and architect Elizabeth MacKenzie to design the home, keeping the plans intentionally family‑focused. Last summer was the first season Smulders and loved ones could enjoy the cabin together.
